From the Beginning

In the spring of 2015 prayers and conversation began to start a childcare program at Kent Hillside Church. We wanted to reach out and connect with our community, and partner with families in the growth and development of their children. Feeling the Lords hand in our new journey was made clear in so many different ways.  So it was then that we began checklists and "to do lists" in preparation for our space to be inspected by the state fire marshal, public health department and the Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF). Classrooms were rearranged with learning stations, supplies were ordered, building modifications were done to to meet all of the state requirements. Our initial license was issued and doors were opened Monday August 1st 2016, and we continue to feel blessed to have so many families joining our Stars of Abraham Family. It’s because of you, that the word continues to spread that we are present here in Kent, and families are still coming to see what we are all about. Your recommendations speak volumes and we thank you for entrusting your kids into the love and care of our Star Staff. We look forward to teaching and making a big difference in the lives of children , no matter their background, experiences or abilities/ We love them all. We cant wait to see how your child adds to our story here at Stars of Abraham Christian Learning Center.

A note from Senior Pastor, Everett Tustin

A few years ago, I had the privilege to sit down with Linda and discuss the potential of developing a daycare ministry at Hillside Church.

We wanted it to have autonomy from the church so that she could develop things along with the calling that she was feeling.

We wanted it to be Christian in values. We wanted it to be relevant to the different cultures present in our neighborhood.

I am thankful that today, from the inception of that idea, through the prayers and “stick-with-it” efforts of Linda and her staff, “Stars of Abraham” is now firmly planted into the community.

I continue to pray for it’s vision and team development as well as the children and families that are a part.
It’s a blessing to see the ministry grow.
